  This po-dunk police department goose steps to the beat of their own drum! The Lynden Police Department is not too different from the 1930's German fascist "Brown Shirt movement". The Town of Lynden's officers do engage in racial profiling, and clearly appear to have a pronounced bias against minorities. The officers selectively enforce the law as they see fit, which of course depends upon whether or not you are related to the officers, and or have come from Dutch ancestry. This is one of the main reasons Lynden still carries the reputation of being a "Sundown Town", and is known in most of Western Washington as a "Stepford Wives Community". Their officers tend to break as many laws as they enforce, as is evidenced with the fairly recent arrest of one of their own officers on Child Pornography charges. Great job fellas. Keep up the great work. The Town of Lynden often has no officers on duty in the evening, and it is the local US Border Patrol that covers their calls in the often noticed absence of Lynden Police. The shooting suspect at the Lynden Fair a few years ago was apprehended by the local Sheriff's Department while the Lynden Police ran around like Keystone Cops. Truly the town and its residents would be far better served by disbanding the police department and contracting with Whatcom County for police services.
